🔹️ Slow Cooker Poor Man’s Stew
👉Ingredients:
◾️ 2 lbs ground beef
◾️ 1 whole onion, chopped
◾️ 2 carrots, sliced
◾️ 1 small rutabaga (swede), diced
◾️ 4 potatoes, diced
◾️ 1 tsp dried oregano
◾️ 1 tbsp onion powder
◾️ 1 tbsp garlic powder
◾️ 4 tbsp tomato paste
◾️ 2 beef bouillon cubes (Oxo)
◾️ 2 cups hot water
◾️ 4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
🔹️ Instructions:
▶️ Step 1: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat.
↪️ Drain excess fat and transfer to the slow cooker.
▶️ Step 2: Add chopped onion, carrots, rutabaga, and diced potatoes.
▶️ Step 3: Sprinkle in oregano, onion powder, and garlic powder.
▶️ Step 4: In a bowl, mix hot water with tomato paste and bouillon cubes until dissolved.
↪️ Pour the mixture into the slow cooker.
▶️ Step 5: Add Worcestershire sauce and stir everything together.
↪️ Add extra hot water if needed to just cover the ingredients.
▶️ Step 6: Cover and cook on LOW for 7 hours.
✅️ Done! Serve hot with steamed broccoli or Yorkshire puddings.
🔸️ Optional Yorkshire Pudding Recipe:
◾️ 140g plain flour
◾️ 4 eggs
◾️ 200ml milk
◾️ Pinch of salt
▶️ Mix ingredients well, pour into muffin tin, and bake at 220°C (430°F) for about 20–25 minutes.
